Program areas at Mahamati Foundation
Mahamati's President and CEO has been teaching extensively in Karma Kagyu Buddhist centers throughout Europe, the United States and Southeast Asia. Each year he teaches at least two to three times in the United States and more frequently in France and Germany. This year, he taught primarily online.
As part of the traditional Buddhist teachings that emphasize the importance of generosity, Mahamati devotes some of its assets to making offerings to Buddhist centers and organizations both in the United States and abroad. This year, however, because of the impact of Covid 19, no donations were made because no revenue was received.
As a Westerner, born of French and American parents, Karma Trinlay Rinpoche was raised in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and educated at French at the Sorbonne, as well as other prestigious French educational institutions. He is fluent in Tibetan, French, and English. With this multicultural background, Rinpoche is uniquely positioned to be able to translate Tibetan texts into both English and French, including Buddhist philosophical and liturgical texts, as well as other texts related to Buddhist poetry, for the use of students of the Karma Kagyu lineage. In addition, he serves as translator for the 17th Karmapa, Thaye Dorje, and other Tibetan Buddhist teachers.
