Program areas at Maine Jewish Film Festival
The mission of the Maine Jewish Film Festival is to enrich, educate and entertain a diverse audience through the presentation of film programs based on the global Jewish experience. Programs often include post-film speakers and discussions. Our primary event is a film festival, with other film based programs occurring throughout the year. Historically, the festival is held in March and lasts for approximately 8 days, with programs in Portland, Brunswick, Lewiston, Waterville, Bangor and Rockland. Approximately 3000 filmgoers attend. In addition to the festival in March, the organization also organizes various film events in the fall and spring and works with schools to present festival films in educational environments.Due to the pandemic, we were forced again this year to hold the festival virtually.In 2021, MJFF created a program called Weekend Edition". This program included films and discussions one weekend a month from January through June. These programs were offered free of charge.
