Program areas at Makoce Agriculture Development

Makoce is developing the food system institute that will be a place for food production leaders and community members to come together for education, meetings, and collaborative opportunities. Makoce has also identified land and is developing the Makoce food hub for our community space to sell community products but also come together, share ideas, and support one another in building a collaborative, local, regenerative food system. Makoce has also acquired 40 acres of tribal land to establish its production farm supporting a diverse ecosystem including flowers, hemp, trees, nuts, bees, chickens and more. We are also working towards the creation of processing plants and facilities for hemp farming. To assist with all of this the oceti sakowin food systems alliance, a group of community leaders, all working as a think tank to identify, research, and connect a regional food system.
