Program areas at Many Hands for Haiti
Many hand is a 501(c)3 dedicated to "transform together to be love in action in a broken world." We accomplish this by working in relationships with children, families, and communities in Haiti, the bahamas, and the u.s. to unleash their god-given talents and resources to meet the challenges of the day. Top 3 program services accomplished: 1)love in action: love in action (lia) is our initiative to rebuild, restore, and renew communities by strengthening families. This includes a first 1,000 days program for new mothers and their young children. In 2023, we provided daily food, medical assistance, spiritual guidance, and educational opportunities for over 400 mothers and children under the age of 2. As part of this initiative, we also operate an early childhood learning center for three-, four-, and five-year-olds, called the school of light, with primary education for those graduating from preschool. In 2023, we had 183 children in our school of light. We had 409 students check out library books in abaco, with 80 in the ark program. Lastly, as part of this initiative, we have a power to the parents program, investing in adult education, livestock husbandry, and community gardens. In 2023, we had 746 individuals participating in these programs. 2)impact journey: we believe all are broken people, regardless if we live in Haiti, the bahamas, or the u.s. we put significant effort into creating space for different cultures to experience one another, allowing god to work through broken people for redemptive purposes. In 2023, we sent 195 u.s. Volunteers to the bahamas to work with our bahamian staff and communities. The relationships built are truly transformative, changing perceptions in both cultures and creating opportunities to become better people by working together. We fully coordinate these trips and ease the anxiety of traveling to a foreign country. 3)ethical feeding programs: our feeding programs seek to meet physical need for food regardless of race, gender, religion, or ethnic background. In 2023, we managed and/or provided 3,000 plates of food per day to 19 schools. In addition, we planted over 7,000 trees, managed multiple community gardens, a congo bean field, and a peanut field. We also delivered 108 pregnant goats to families and performed over 1,951 community goat health checks. Lastly, we delivered 300 emergency food deliveries to families in need.
