Program areas at The Mary Byron Project

The Mary Byron Project provided training and informational sessions on varying aspects of domestic violence throughout The commonwealth of Kentucky and The local community, participated in community meetings and forums concerning domestic violence in The commonwealth of Kentucky and The local community, and provided expert advice, opinions, and guidance in response to inquiries from around The country about domestic violence and resources available to victims
In our quest to fill gaps in society's knowledge of intimate partner violence and its adverse effects on everyone, The Mary Byron Project board is exploring inculcating domestic violence education into a post-secondary institution. This would allow information to be disseminated across all colleges on a university campus, thereby training professionals to understand The dynamics, causes and effects of this insidious crime.
The Mary Byron Project launched its inaugural Mary Byron legal fellows program in april 2021, with assistance from a grant from The louisville bar foundation. The program is designed to train and equip attorneys to handle appeals as volunteer attorneys in The Mary Byron Project's appellate advocacy program. Mentoring and networking are also parts of The program. The inaugural class consists of five exceptional attorneys. Attorney participants earn continuing legal education credits for their participation in The program and gain and improve useful lawyering skills that will assist them in better representing survivors of intimate partner violence.
