The Maryland Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (MDAAP) is a professional membership organization of pediatricians and pediatric healthcare providers in Maryland, advocating for Maryland's children and adolescents since 1950. The MDAAP initiates and supports initiatives that respond to the needs of Maryland's children and adolescents through collaborative and creative programming with other public and private agencies. The MDAAP engages in activities in topic areas such as: anti-racism and equity, foster care, children with special healthcare needs, disaster preparedness, early childhood interventions, emotional and mental health, safe communities, immunizations, injury and poison prevention, oral health, school/community health, and gun violence. MDAAP's active partners include: Baltimore City Health Department; Green & Healthy Homes Initiative; Johns Hopkins University; Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry; Maryland Board of Pharmacy; Maryland Dental Action Coalition; Maryland Department of Health; Maryland State Department of Education; Maryland Family Network; Mental Health Association of Maryland; Sinai Hospital of Baltimore; The Horizon Foundation; The Parents' Place of Maryland; and University of Maryland. Currently during the global COVID-19 pandemic, we are partnering with local, state, and national agencies and organizations to provide appropriate care for our patients, and work on projects regarding vaccination research, education, and distribution.
