Program areas at Matura Action Corporation
Weatherization/energy assistance consists of the low-income housing energy assistance (liheap), low-income household water assistance program (lihwap), and weatherization programs. Liheap and lihwap gives emergency fuel and water assistance to economically disadvantaged consumers who meet all criteria of the program. Weatherization improves the energy efficiency of homes for individuals eligible to receive assistance in the program.
Community services these programs serve income-qualified individuals and families with a variety of services including family development, rental assistance, child and dental health, and disaster and emergency needs.
Child education services are provided through the head start program which served 215 children for the 2023 fiscal year. Head start is an early learning development program for economically disadvantaged participants who meet the criteria for the program.
Food/nutrition programsthe child & adult food program provides supplemental reimbursement for meals and snacks at licensed centers. During the 2023 fiscal year, head start provided 1666 breakfasts, 1877 lunches, and 4490 snacks.the women, infant, and children program helps new mothers and children at risk of poor nutrition. It provides healthy food, nutrition education and referrals to other agencies so babies and children grow up healthy. During the 2023 fiscal year wic assisted 3328 women, infants, and children.
Employment and training programswe work with individuals who are seeking job search assistance and support our local businesses by presenting employment and training opportunities to our customers. Also, we assist local youth who have at least one barrier which makes it more difficult to find employment with work experience opportunities that improve their confidence and a better outlook on their ability to succeed in gaining and keeping employment.
