On august 8, 2023, the island of Maui endured extensive loss of life and property due to fires. It is expected the damaging results of these firestorms will be felt throughout Maui for several years to come. Shortly after the fires, the Maui Police Foundation solicited donations on its website for the Maui Police department to be used for replacement and procurement of equipment and training in concert with its bylaws in an effort to be better prepared for any future disaster such as the one experienced. Contributions made through the website were made through paypal. Additionally, during the month of october a group of part time residents assembled in support of 4 Maui non-profit organizations, one of which was the Maui Police Foundation. They promoted awareness of the Maui Police Foundation and its mission and solicited donations for each of the non-profits. Due to these efforts, the Maui Police Foundation received several hundred thousand dollars in donations to be used in accordance with its mission. No fundraisers were sponsored by the Maui Police Foundation during this time; therefore no fundraising dollars were spent from the Maui Police Foundation's budget. A list of donations of 5,000 or more are listed in schedule b.
