The Mayland Community College Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to support, strengthen, and advance the work of Mayland Community College. It received $4,000,000 from the state of NC as State Capital Infrastructure Funds for the completion of the shared entry way with the YMCA at the Three Peaks Enrichment Center in Spruce Pine. The foundation also completed construction of the Glenn and Carol Arthur Planetarium located at the Mayland Earth to Sky Park which opened to the public on June 24, 2022.

Program areas at Mayland Community College Foundation

Program 1 - Scholarships: We awarded $133,523 in scholarships to 52 students. Program 2 - Glenn and Carol Arthur Planetarium: During our first full year of operation we hosted 1942 students and 323 chaperones at the planetarium for field trips and summer camps. A total of 1,812 tickets were sold for Planetarium shows. Program 3 - Three Peaks Enrichment Center: Demolition was started, site evaluations for the retaining wall were completed and a shell and core pricing contract was signed with Vannoy.
