Regulatory and scientific affairs:the regulatory and scientific affairs (rsa) group interacts with a variety of regulatory agencies, primarily federal, including several agencies in the u.s. department of agriculture, the environmental protection agency, the occupational safety and health administration, the food and drug administration, and others. Rsa provides technical assistance to member companies on regulatory issues related to Meat and poultry inspection, as well as compliance with environmental rules, worker safety regulations, among others.
Public affairs and legislative affairs:this group engages in communications with the media, policy makers, and the public on behalf of Meat Institute member companies. This department also acts as the Meat and poultry industry's representative on capitol hill and manages the Meat Institute political action committee (pac).
Member services and event sponsorship:this department is responsible for overseeing logistics, operations, educational content, and marketing aspects of Meat Institute and Meat foundation educational programs. These events include the international production and processing exposition and annual Meat conference. This department also oversees the content and marketing of a series of educational conferences.
Protein pact:protein pact is an initiative to help unite the animal protein value chain to create an aggregated industry data collection platform and a long-term, comprehensive communication plan to measure continuous improvement of the animal protein industry's progress for the people, animals, and climate of tomorrow. The Meat Institute and its members have taken part in domestic and international events to emphasize animal agriculture's importance for healthy people, healthy animals, and a healthy climate.
