Cardiovascular Research is responsible for coordinating and performing a wide variety of cardiology Research dedicated to developing new diagnostic and therapeutic technologies to enhance patient care and save lives. Areas of specialization include interventional cardiology devices, cardiovascular imaging and applications of artificial intelligence, heart failure, arrythmias and outcomes Research.

Specifically, the Research is aimed to improve the way we deliver care in our healthcare facilities and in the community. Much of the Research has focused on using human factors engineering principles, community engagement (such as how to reduce infant and maternal mortality), safety of electronic Health record use and identifying unintended consequences, improved implementation in population Health and how to achieve Health equity for all aspects of our community. From january 2022 to june 2023, Medstar Health lead more than 200 studies focused on Health equity and published more than 85 peer-reviewed Research publications in leading medical journals.
