Program areas at Memphis Oral School for the Deaf

the sound beginnings program is designed to offer Speech therapy with parent education and training. Within the year, this program has provided services for approximately 30 students. In the sound transitions program, students will use a comprehensive approach to enhance their learning through listening and spoken language. During developmental therapy, families are trained to provide the child with Oral education. Overall, this program has succeeded in the goal of serving approximately 12 students during this year. the sound voyagers program targets Speech or language delays due to other reasons than Hearing loss for students ages 2-4. This program has served approximately 10 children this academic year. Memphis Oral School for the Deaf (mosd) offers an educational day School for students five days a week: emphasizing one's individual progress of Speech and auditory skills from ages 2-5. Having annually served approximately 30 students in an academic year.the Speech & Hearing Center of the Midsouth provides community Speech therapy and audiological services in a traditional clinical setting. Services are extended to those attending the mosd day School program on a weekly basis while the student is attending classes. Families in mosd's other programs utilize the Center annually as part of their individualized family service plan (ifsp) goals for their children. Additionally, the speech-language pathologists conduct Speech evaluations in company, with the audiologists providing cochlear mapping and Hearing aid adjustments. During the year, including the population from mosd's programs, the Speech & Hearing Center serves over 300 residents just in the mid-southMidsouthth.
