Mental Health Association in hawai`Hawaii`i (mhah) endeavors to reduce the stigma of Mental illness and improve the overall care, treatment, and empowerment of those living with Mental illness - including children and youth, adults, elders, and their families - at the legislature, state agencies, and in the media. Virtually every family in this country is touched in some way by Mental illness - in fact, one in five people in America have a diagnosable Mental Health condition. Mhah champions Mental wellness by creating new programs, assisting people in getting help, and advocating for improved care. Through its leadership, mhah has been expanding Mental Health awareness, preparedness, understanding, and action through community-based trainings, education and advocates to ensure that people with Mental Health struggles have the quality services they deserve. Mhah has a youth suicide and bullying prevention program to prevent suicide and bullying among youth and young adults; adult suicide prevention programs; and public resilience and wellness training services.
