Mham's advocacy efforts help to promote recovery and build better lives for individuals and families affected by Mental illness. Mham focused on policy initiatives that impacted people experiencing Mental illness including:state budget. Advocated for sufficient state resources for an accessible continuum of Mental Health services for adults and children statewide.sought funding for the implementation of assisted outpatient treatment statewide.advocated for increased wages for Mental Health direct care workers described in pa 87 of 2021, article 6, sec. 231. Participated with the direct care worker coalition.worked collaboratively with other stakeholders to advocate for meaningful change to the community Mental Health system.provided 4 town hall meetings around the state of Michigan in 2023 to train individuals seeking to navigate the public Mental Health system in the mechanics of knowing how to advocate in the system.participated in the national governors Association in may 2023, which was held in detroit, Michigan in which the focus was on children's and adolescent's Mental Health.
Provided community education, including webinars focused on Mental Health education, and public information programs. Mental Health Association in Michigan provided information and referral to individuals who contacted the organization, as well as provided specialized Mental Health trainings to organizations such as the local 333 and 191. We provided multiple Mental health-related webinars for Mental Health professionals and the general community. in 2023, Mental Health Association in Michigan hosted at least five live events: a town hall in february of 2023 at hope network; town hall in august of 2023 in traverse city; town hall in clinton township in october of 2023 and town hall in southfield in october of 2023; and a legislative event in may of 2023 with the arc-michigan that involved legislators and was held at heritage hall at the capitol.
