Program areas at Mental Health Consumer Advocates of Rhode Island
The agency maintains the oasis advocacy and social center where mental health clients come for meals, activities, educational programs, and any other assistance they need. The population served has doubled over the last three years to almost 3000 members.
The agency operates two shelters that accomodate ten men and ten women. Since opening in 2007, they have served nearly 60 people. Twelve have graduated from the program and moved into their own apartments.
The agency operates the consumers for self reliance program in south county, a program similar to the oasis center. To date the agency has provided emergency shelter to 65 individuals.
