Miami dade Area Health Education Center (ahec)'s mission is to improve access to quality, comprehensive Health care and Education for the underserved, uninsured, economically needy and other vulnerable individuals. Its current programs are tobacco cessation; tobacco training state and community intervention; colorectal cancer screening & Education; prostate awareness Education; alzheimer's caregivers workshops; alzheimer's workforce training; covid-19 Education; continuing Education training for healthcare professionals; community Health practicum's for nursing students; and hrsa model scholars program. Our vision is to change healthcare through Education. We guide students on the path to careers in healthcare, we provide healthcare professionals with opportunities to grow within their field, and we inform our community on today's most critical Health topics. Mdahec goals are:1. To increase the number of healthcare professionals who can serve our most vulnerable populations.2. To increase the knowledge of healthcare professionals by educating on todays' most critical Health issues and providing quality continuing Education programs and resources.3. To increase our communities and vulnerable individual's overall Health and wellness by providing preventative Health Education and screening programs.mdahec plays a key role in the community in addressing Health disparities, our workforce is comprised of community Health workers and peer educators who share ethnicity, language, socioeconomic status, and life experiences with the community members they serve which leads to improve patients' Health outcomes.during the fiscal year of july 1, 2021 - june 30, 2022, mdahec has worked on the following major programs to address Health disparities:community Health programstobacco cessation counseling 1,449 participants colorectal cancer Education - 276 participants colorectal cancer screening - 80 participants prostate awareness Education - 143 participants alzheimer's caregiver's workshops - 160 participants covid-19 Education - 1,050 participantsworkforce developmenttobacco training state and community intervention-healthcare professionals - 367 healthcare professionals-healthcare students - 644 healthcare students alzheimer's workforce training -alzheimer's and dementia related disease - 645 healthcare professionals/healthcare students covid-19 education-healthcare participants - 866 participants -healthcare professional - 645 professionalscontinuing Education program-healthcare professionals - 517 healthcare professionalsvolunteers-community Health practicum's for nursing students - 4 nursing students-hrsa model scholars - 45 studentstotal 49 students
