In 2023, mclc coordinated the following programs:created mentoring and me program and successfully connected with four mentors to match them with four young women in fostercare.hosted webinars focused on what attorneys should know about trauma and children, fostercare car purchasing and insurance, juvenile justice roundtable called 'how lawyers can help children in juvenile justice cases, education advocacy and reform, building a better relationship with child clients.made presentations at Michigan state university Law school, wayne state university Law school, and university of Michigan Law school focused on improving outcomes for children in care through effective legal and community advocacy, served on several panels throughout the state.collaborated with parkwest foundation, shorewood kiwanis club, lakeshore optimist club and more to build relationships and continue to engage partners.attended several conferences to enhance our expertise including the national association of Children's council and Children's Law section.hosted two back to school events; one for children on the west side of detroit and surrounding areas and the second for children on the east side of detroit and surrounding areas.hosted annual adopt a child for christmas program servicing 15 children in fostercare.continued relationship with goodfellows to provide christmas gifts to families in need.speaker at parkwest foundation aging out meetings.hosted trainings for mclc attorneys and other attorneys who represent children.made presentation to attorneys who practice in adult criminal court to share insights about children who find themselves there later in life.helped the wayne county circuit court improve aging out programs and education advocacy program (both of which mclc started and the court system incorporated into the court system).trained two undergraduate interns and two Law school externs.
