Program areas at MHPN
Educational programs - mhpn offered educational programs on Historic Preservation philosophy, technical processes, financial incentives, case studies, and state Historic Preservation office documentation requirements through the mhpn annual conference, awards programs highlighting best practices, 12 monthly live webinars, and hands-on training workshops. Our executive director has presented at various partner organization conferences to raise awareness of our programs.
Rehabilitation and property protection - assisted physical Preservation of Historic properties through monitoring/managing 26 easements and 2 loans and obtaining funds for a rehabilitation project.
Field services - mhpn responded to requests for assistance in preserving Historic sites by sharing information on establishing Historic districts, financial incentives for Historic Preservation, and guidelines for advocacy. We also prepared letters of support and engaged legal counsel for buildings threatened with demolition. Our executive director has visited sites and met with owners and community members to support their Preservation efforts. Our work covers all counties in Michigan.
Building Preservation support - developed support for Historic Preservation through building membership and advocating for Historic Preservation with elected officials.
Tax credit projects - managed 11 investments to support the rehabilitation of Historic structures through partnerships with developers undertaking Historic rehabilitation and/or brownfield redevelopment projects.
