Program areas at MicroLife Institute
Educational programming, community engagement, and consulting in support of the mission. In 2023 this included: four public and ten private tours of our model project, the "cottages on vaughan." We hosted the sixth annual innovative housing summit that brings together experts in the field with a community of interested builders, city leaders, and advocates. We consulted with toombs county, ga to carry out community engagement, policy advising, and a housing assessment. We consulted with dekalb county in support of their green new deal conference. Our executive director spoke at numerous educational events, including at the urban land Institute conference in athens, greece. We had a number of other smaller consulting projects to support missing middle housing development for individuals and municipalities.
Housing development, including land acquisition, pre-development and construction to create affordable homeownership opportunities. We were awarded grant contracts with the Georgia office of planning and budget and fulton county to building housing. The opb project will result in nine housing units to support women recently released from prison successfully reunite with their families. The fulton cottages project will result in a 10-unit cottage court, providing affordable homeownership opportunities for fulton county residents.
