Program areas at Mid-West New Mexico Community Action Program
The head start and early head start programs delivered comprehensive services to foster healthy development of children ages infant to toddlers for early head start and 3-5 from low-income families for head start, including disabled children.
Child and adult food Program - benefits consist of nutritious meals and snacks served to eligible children and adults who receive care in the head start and early head start programs.
Community service block grant - services and activities have a measurable and potentially major impact on causes of poverty. Activities to assist low-income participants to maintain adequate housing, health services and food. Provide emergency food and related services. Coordinate and establish links between governmental and other social services. Encourage the use of entities in the private sector of the Community to reduce poverty.
Emergency food and shelter Program - mwnmcap provides services in catron, cibola, socorro and valencia counties. Program funds are used to provide the following as determined by the local board in funded jurisdictions: 1. Food, in the form of groceries; 2. Lodging in a mass shelter or hotel; 3. One month's rent or mortgage payment; 4. One month's utility bill.
