Program areas at Midcoast Conservancy

- Permanently protected 257 acres in Lincoln and Waldo counties, Maine, with public access. - Protected 219 acres in Lincoln and Waldo counties, Maine, through conservation easements. - Assured 8,110 acres of preserves with public access and 6,862 acres of other conserved land met highest standards for conserved property. - Conducted trail maintenance on our 95 miles of trails.
Community - Engaged with community programs on our preserves and at Hidden Valley Nature Center including educational and outdoor recreational programs for the public. - Served 5 local schools for outdoor lessons in environmental education at Hidden Valley Nature Center. - Opened the new Roland S. Barth Welcome Center building at Hidden Valley Nature Center providing a place for outdoor recreational gear rentals, warming hut for visitors and small office and meeting space for staff.Healthy Organization - Hired full time administrative manager and a full time grants manager.
- Continued water quality monitoring in Sheepscot River and Damariscotta Lake watersheds. Partnered with Bigelow to monitor and test levels of cyanobacteria in Damariscotta Lake. Deployed temp loggers into the Sheepscot River to collect continuous temperature data. - Continued water quality work in the Medomak River watershed, hired a Medomak River watershed manager. - Continued debris cleanup on islands in Medomak watershed. - Continued to work with partners on project to ultimately remove the barrier to fish passage at Branch Mills Pond on the Sheepscot River. Began planning fish passage project at Ben Brook in Alna. - Continued oyster project in Sheepscot River to test for growth potential and water filtration.
