The Oyster Festival 2022 presales and event sales of crab bisque were very robust. As a result, the fundraising income increased over the previous year by $8,683, grants sent out held steady at $4,750 and net assets increased $7,209. Other fundraising activities also saw continued support at pre COVID levels.Annual Scholarship Grants total $4,750 to college bound seniors and $2,978 Grants to Local Fire and Rescue Squads, Social Services and Educational NonProfit Entities in the Community.The Club identified a need to have a forester/arborist assess the health and options to deal with a very large slash pine tree on MCWC property. Originally, the idea was to remove the tree completely at a cost of $9,000, but the tree was trimmed,thinned out and stabilized with guy wires for a total of $3,400. This is one of the largest slash pines in Virginia and, so long as it remains healthy, is arguably contributing to the historical site in a material manner.
