Program areas at Midland Storytelling Festival

The purpose of the Midland Storytelling Festival is to utilize story to capture participant attention, entertain, teach, stimulate discussion and build the community of Midland, tx. Storytellers of national & regional acclaim are invited to participate in an annual Storytelling Festival that is held each year during the month of december. Community programs, workshops, and specially targeted programs are designed to maximize the teller's expertise, provide participant interaction & assist school-age students with understanding the writing process through the art of storytelling.midland Storytelling Festival - a two-day Festival on december 6th & 7th, 2019 featuring nine nationally acclaimed Storytelling artists. The event provided for an education connection day, 4 community programs, and senior citizin programs reaching more than 4,000 individuals throughout the Festival weekend. Many of them were introduced to Storytelling for the first time.storytelling collaboration event - partnered with Midland hispanic cultural center and Midland hispanic chamber during the month of october 2019 to provide observance of hispanic cultural month. The executive director conducted 4 workshops to teach the art of Storytelling and sharing of personal stories. A bi-lingual teller was brought in and shared stories at some of our schools. The culmination of the event was a community program sharing Storytelling in three ways: spoken by the bi-lingual telling, in song by the young mariachis, and in dance by ballet flamenco. It was offered free, and was the first venture of this type.
