Program areas at Midland Teen Court

Teen Court provides an alternative system of justice to offer young offenders an opportunity to make restitution for their offenses, and an educational opportunity for both offenders and volunteers to better understand the system of justice. 59 Court sessions were held at the Midland county courthouse on 37 monday evenings. 1,681 youth participated at Midland Teen Court sessions: 373 youth had a case heard by Teen juries and also served as Teen jurors for case requirements. 318 volunteer youth participated at Court sessions serving as Teen attorneys and/or jurors. 342 youth successfully completed a case in Midland Teen Court, serving a total of 10,017 hours of community service for local nonprofit organizations in the process. Midland Teen Court also presented 12 educational seminars led by local experts and attended by 350 youth.
