Medical device development Research mhrf conducts medical device Research for the Military primarily focused on dealing with trauma, vascular injury, resuscitation and other combat care treatments which include the following projects: endovascular perfusion augmentation for critical care - mhrf has been awarded a cooperative agreement for the personalized and adaptive therapy for resuscitation after trauma. This agreement provides for the Research and development of innovative patient-centered technologies to maintain physiological equilibrium in an effort to minimize preventable deaths for critically ill warfighters by employing personalized, goal directed precision critical care support in ways that were never before possible. Ventright - mhrf has been awarded a cooperative agreement for the Research and development of a portable ventilation monitoring optimizing critical care device from the department of defense in support of the air force materiel command. The objective of this effort is to develop: (a) a battery-operated device capable of collecting and integrating ventilation and physiologic metrics; (b) diagnostic algorithms capable of identifying common critical respiratory disease states and sub-optimal ventilation; and (c) integration of the device with the algorithms to create a robust and portable ventilation analytics monitor capable of battlefield deployment. Evac - mhrf is researching the development of the design of a clinical-grade evac controller for prolonged weaning to provide partial flow which will lead to the development of hardware and software for test fixtures needed for the evac controller manufacturing, verification and validation testing as well as manufacturing of sterile units in final packaging for the verification and validation and completion of regulatory documentation for the evac controller.paccman - mhrf will develop and refine a platform of autonomous critical care termed precision automated critical care management (pacc-man). The objective of the software and hardware platform is to deliver fluids, drugs, and blood products based on physiologic data streams, utilizing both rule-based and machine learning (ml)-based adaptive algorithms to optimize resuscitation efforts, minimize periods of hypo/hypertension, and optimize resources.ortho stim - mhrf is researching how to accelerate bone stress fractures (cumulative micro- trauma injuries) and traumatic (acute) fracture healing with the aim of shortening the time to full active duty using noninvasive bioelectrical stimulations. The overall project requires a two-level Research strategy 1) in vitro studies in small segment bone tissue to determine the optimal bes frequency signals to accelerate bone formation while detecting change in multiple bone fixation markers (present in bone cells and bone tissue) to assess progress. 2) small-medium animal studies to test these in vitro frequencies that induce protein changes and mineralization in bone via appropriate tissue sampling/histopathology
Medical Research support services- mhrf also provides enterprise, program, and project level Research administration and provides solutions to specific taskings such as Research process consulting, staffing support, clinical trials, and data analysis which include the following projects: pe systems conducts acquisition and prototyping support for the united states air force. Mhrf provides a project level subject matter expert that serves at the life cycle management group for the human systems division. Cdc eagle global scientific is a life sciences company that provides Research, development, and personnel support to many federal agencies. Mhrf provides an epidemiologist that works directly at the centers for disease control. Zeiss smile property and equipment. The collaborator will provide and install one (1) visumax laser platform and one (1) iprofiler (or equivalent) aberrometer. The collaborator will also provide 100 visumax treatment packages, and any required software upgrades to the air force activity. These instruments and treatment packages will be provided at no cost to the air force activity.darpa ritmo the mhrf was awarded a subcontract to provide project management, subject matter expertise, and data collection support on the university of Maryland, baltimore's cooperative agreement with darpa biological technologies office for the Research infrastructure for trauma with medical observations (ritmo) program. In this 3.5-year Research project mhrf supports the principal investigator and Research team in their project goals to collect signals from routine and new sensor non-invasive continuous vital signs (vs) linked to time-stamped life-saving interventions (lsis) and trauma patient outcomes during field care, helicopter transport, trauma center reception, resuscitation, and stabilization.alcon idesigne mhrf is researching how clinical outcomes of contoura with phorcides compare with idesign.alcon smile mhrf is researching how clinical outcomes of contoura with phorcides compare with smile.med read pro. Mhrf is researching how to address the public Health of disease non-battle injury (dnbi) occurs within the Military population. We will quantify the extent to which overall dnbi and individual dnbi occur in operational or deployed settings by estimating their transition probabilities as incidence rates. We will also investigate the temporal trends of these estimated rates from 2010 to 2021.then we will compare the occurrence of dnbi between the mtfs and compare these rates among deployed service members to what is seen by mtf providers during regular visits. This will allow identification of the risk factors of deployment evacuation due to dnbi.
