Health professions program - Wisconsin ahec scholars is a two-year program designed to enhance and broaden a student's healthcare training. Each year ahec scholars participate in a combination of didactic and community-based experiential training in a Wisconsin rural and/or underserved community. Ahec community Health immersion gives undergraduate and graduate Health profession students the unique opportunity to connect with the diverse communities and cultures of Wisconsin, exploring Health care delivery and public Health in medically underserved areas. This well-known experience is now integrated into our ahec scholars program, and we invite students outside of the program to join our sessions as room allows. The Wisconsin ahec community Health internship program (chip) links undergraduate and graduate student interns with local Health departments, tribal Health departments, community service agencies, and community Health centers throughout Wisconsin to address a variety of public Health issues. Integrated public Health nursing training and internship program (phn training) is a project designed to transform nursing Education from focusing on clinical care to fully encompassing all factors that impact Health. Nursing students receive early and consistent exposure to public Health and social determinants of Health. Milwaukee ahec's pathways program is coordinated by two americorps members, with involvement from medical students and other volunteers. Students at Milwaukee public high schools participate in hosa future Health professionals. Students from one private Milwaukee high school participate in youth Health service corps. High school students participate in Health career awareness and public Health activities.
