Maps has a 22-year history of Patient safety engagement and accomplishments. We are unique as the most broadly based health care coalition in Minnesota, with representation from the entire continuum of health care providers, state agencies, regulatory boards, and active consumer representation. Maps mission is "safe care everywhere." Maps has expertise and focuses on specific projects within the following strategic areas:we are experiencing great success and growth in our efforts and engagement since the end of the pandemic. Maps has worked to educate, equip and engage through the following key initiatives:we convene a unique statewide network of patients and families to share Patient stories and experiences, to provide the Patient perspective on safety projects, to identify safety issues of concern, and to provide a critical role of sharing stories to ensure everything we do is mission driven.we participate in adverse health event reporting system changes we are active participants in the evolution of this system that exists today and will work to replicate the success to be applied to settings beyond the hospital systems. Learning from mistakes and improving systems to prevent them in the future is key to positive safety outcomes for patients and families.we supported a diagnostic error project in our successful partnership with lakewood health care system to improve diagnostic safety.we harvest successful safety solutions (both completed projects and brainstormed ideas) and share these best practices via regular learning opportunities.our safety conference, historically held every other year, includes speakers addressing safety topics along with opportunities for networking and brainstorming to facilitate solutions for preventable medical errors to support our member organizations in their safety work. We will continue to advocate and promote in-person caregivers in all health care settings.we have an engaged board from across the health care continuum that engage in our work. This provides us with a perspective that helps our member organizations gain insights into some of today's more vexing quality and safety problems. As the only organization in Minnesota focused solely on safety in healthcare, maps is built on the premise that safety is not grounds for competition and is advanced best when approached collaboratively.in august of 2017, maps became a subsidiary of stratis health.
