Mpr continues to deliver important Public affairs programming statewide. Mpr news was a reliable source of information during the fy23 midterm elections, providing coverage of the issues that matter most to audiences. Mpr news won 6 first place awards and 6 awards of merit from the midwest broadcast journalist association, 5 first place awards from the Minnesota chapter of the society of professional journalists, and 2 first place awards from the Public Media journalists association. Mpr news with angela davis won a gracie allen award. The current continues to provide a way for listeners to connect through a shared passion of new music discovery. The current continues to platform knowledgeable and engaging voices to shape the musical tastes of the region and beyond. The current won 3 first place awards from the Minnesota chapter of the society of professional journalists. Carbon sound, a music stream, website, and app dedicated to honoring and celebrating black musical expression across all genres and creating community through music, received an award at the webbys 2nd annual anthem awards reception in new yew york city in february 2023. Carbon sound is funded by the corporation for Public broadcasting with support from the Minnesota arts and cultural fund. Yourclassical mpr continues to provide unique programs and relevant features to connect classical listeners with the music they love. Class notes, a program that inspires students and supports teachers through free music education resources, had a banner year in fy23, providing nearly 55,000 students musical lessons and performances, a record high for the program. Operating as American Public Media (apm), mpr supports its national program portfolio, including performance today, marketplace, apm research lab, and the splendid table, and can be heard on 1,000 Public Radio stations with nearly 17 million listeners each week nationwide. Podcasts from American Public Media boast 18 million downloads across all apm podcasts monthly.sold a story, a podcast from apm's national portfolio via apm reports, shined this year with incredible impact. The podcast has had fundamental impact on the discussion on and practice of how we teach children to read. Podcast host emily hanford and team earned numerous awards and accolades for the podcast including an honorable mention at the gracie allen awards, a peabody nomination, an investigative reporters & editors award, and a 2023 george w. bush institute citation. Mpr operates a 46-station Radio network serving nearly all of Minnesota and parts of surrounding states, reaching 1,000,000 listeners each week through its regional services of mpr news, the current and yourclassical. Mpr continues to be one of the nation's top Public Radio stations, producing programming for Radio, digital, and live audiences.
