SUPPORTIVE SERVICESCare Packages: Miracle babies delivers care packages to parents with hospitalized newborns. Care packages contain essential items and resource materials to aid and comfort families during their babys NICU stay. Contents are intended to support parents who spend considerable time in the NICU. Care packages not only have resourceful items but let parents know they are not alone in their NICU journey. In 2023, over 2300 care packages were distributed to 10 different hospitals across the Southern California region. Miracle Hours: Providing a unique opportunity for parents to get together, share concerns and feel the support of peers who understand the intricacies and challenges of having a baby in the NICU. Often these parents struggle with feelings of isolation, causing anxiety and depression at the precise time their baby needs them most. In 2023, 33 Miracle Hours were held with 314 participants. Drive Thru Diaper Distributions: Providing low-income parents free diapers and baby essentials. Diaper distributions help alleviate immediate stress for families, especially those families with financial burdens, medical costs and other stressors. In addition to diapers, parents receive baby wipes, menstrual products and other supportive items. In 2023, 10 distributions were held. Distributing 222,000 diapers to 2370 families. Gentle Beginnings Baby Boutique: Located inside the Miracle Babies office and is available five days a week for NICU parents. The boutique offers a variety of baby essentials, gently used clothing, formula, and diapers all FREE of charge.
Mental Health AssistanceMiracle Babies provides individual therapy to NICU moms and moms with high-risk pregnancies in acute crisis. Miracle Babies supports parents during vulnerable times in order to improve their mental health and ultimately enhance their bonding relationship with their developing child. In 2023, 120 individual mental health therapy sessions were conducted. Support groups are offered in person or online and facilitated by a mental health clinician. Support groups can fill the gap between individual therapy and reach a maximum number of parents in need of immediate mental health support. In 2023, 50 Groups Sessions were provided with 143 participants.
Transportation services Miracle Babies provides transportation for families with a newborn(s)in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).The shuttle vans provide a home-to-hospital-to-home service enabling new parents to be united with their newborn. Miracle Babies works closely with hospital social workers to ensure NICU parents have access to their newborns addressing inequities for low-income parents through free access to transportation.In 2023, Miracle Babies transportation provided over 3300 rides logging over 75,000 miles.
