July 2016 to december 2016: sleeping beauty, The disney musical, directed and choreographed by lily mc ateer, a children's professional training camp of musical theater. Involving 37 local children. Music direction was provided by justin jacobs and casting by eve pomerance. Sleeping beauty was a fully costumed and fully staged production in The performance tent on The green. This production starred abby volmar, a local child we have taught and nurtured since she first came to us in The sound of music in 2012. She played sleeping beauty. This program received excellent reviews and was sold out for its entire two month run.annie get your gun, directed by sean haberle who also played buffalo bill cody, starred The fabulous tony nominee and artist in residence for gaar, marla schaffel, as annie, with music direction by justin jacobs, and fight sequences by christian sordelet. Annie was an instant hit and was sold out for its entire two month run.to kill a mockingbird, directed by artistic director sabra jones and starring sean haberle as atticus finch, was a particularly well received, much lauded production which was subsequently invited into discussion at The sheen center in new york until The contractual obligation became impossible due to The upcoming 2018 production adaptation by aaron sorkin made The opportunity no longer viable. The production was praised as superb and inspired The rev. Richard fenn of The princeton theological seminary to see it five times and to write The sheen center in new york.the three above performances were presented in The performance tent on town green.sinners, by israeli playwright joshua sobol, was presented at The nearby hardwick town house in hardwick, Vermont, due to its sensitive nature. The play was directed by The eminent uk actor brian cox, and starred Mirror company member nicole ansari, with special music by fared shafinbury. The production was so highly praised that The Mirror theater Ltd. was termed The strongest and finest theater in Vermont by critic jim lowe. Subsequently The production was invited to boston.a night of opera, in The performance tent, was directed by heidi lauren duke, and consisted of selections from operas beloved by The public, and featuring a number of highly trained local singers.september, 2016 The writers forum continued at highland lodge with an evening interview with katherine patterson, a nationally known multi-award winning author, who is local. She is very popular and The evening was well attended. She brought to us a play, good king wenceslas, which we have optioned by verbal contract for production in The winter of 2018 in new york and plan on a staged reading for december of 2016.september 17, 2016 The belle of amherst was presented in a fully staged performance reading directed by sabra jones and starring marla schaffel. The production was termed "superb" by local critics and was entirely sold out for both performance in The sanctuary at ucc church.december 2016 good king wenceslas was presented in a staged reading at ucc church to great success, with a cast of local people and marla schaffel, our artist in residence. Also, in december was a holiday concert to benefit The lakeview union school and marla schaffel starred along with The children of lakeview union school and students of gaar/the Mirror theater's arts in education program and programming. Special guests were maya mc coy and brent mc coy of Vermont vaudeville. Dorian sarris provided muscial accompaniement.on december 17th at ucc church was a reprise of The belle of amherst, starring marla schaffel and directed by sabra jones, which again received stellar reviews.january to june 2017: sinners was invited to boston in a four way partnership involving boston university, The new rep theater in boston, Mirror theater, and israeli rep. Directed by brian cox and again starring nicole ansari, playwright joshua sobol came over from israel for panel discussions. The production play in boston in The lab theater in The boston of boston university on commonwealth avenue, was extremely well reviewed and ran until april 2, 2017. Preproduction began in january with auditions to replace The character of nur and continued with pre production activity in february and rehearsals began in march.
