Social services: Mission Lexington's social services team works to provide proper assistance to Lexington county residents in need during their time of crisis. We provide access to food, clothing, utilities, housing and resources so that clients (our neightbors as we prefer to call them) can become stabililized and sustainable. The work done by this team is tedious and crucial and requires a large amount of discernment to ensure that our resources are being used in the best interest of everyone involved. Our social services team works with local businesses, government agencies, organizations, individuals and more than 80 member churches to meet the needs of our neighbors daily.
Donation center: Mission Lexington's donation center is the lifeblood of the organization. Donors are able to drop off new and gently used household items as well as food for the food pantry. An average month produces over 240 household donation drop-offs and approximately 45,000 pounds of food. In addition, our donation center rescues food and unsold household goods from multiple grocers and retail establishents in Lexington country each weekday. Items are processed for our food pantry, thrift stores, christmas shop (for children), re-housing purposes (fire, domestic violence, etc.) And treasure trove (high-end thrift items).
