Program areas at Missions Resource Network
Initiate: Missions Resource Network (mrn) prepares and cares for workers who serve muslim, hindu and buddhist background people groups. During 2023, initiatives were held in bengal, the mediterranean rim, and the atlantic bridge area (south africa and rwanda). Mrn's emerging leadership initiative (eli) is held in four sites including botswana, south africa, the phillipines, and rwanda, aiming to co-create leadership development processes with international locations to multiply leaders to at least the 4th generation. In 2023, 48 leaders in 22 countries were coached or mentored during 275 sessions. A total of 105 individuals attended leadership training events this year, learning to coach, equip or train through the Network of emerging leaders. See also sch. O
Missionary care: mrn strives to keep cross-cultural workers effective and whole through providing appropriate care and equipping churches to care for the cross-cultural workers they support. During 2023, they provided numerous hours of direct care to over 145 families, responding to a general request from workers for more face-to-face interaction and increased time spent with their needs on-site. While maintaining a rigorous schedule of online care appointments, each often with multiple individuals in the family, they strived to be more physically present with workers in their spaces. To be more effective in their efforts and more appropriate for non-western candidates, they evaluated and reimagined their assessment process, providing training for 10 worker candidates in 2023.
Empower: mrn connects and equips existing ministries and churches where the church is established to expand their impact by providing re-visioning, training, networking, coaching, and care. Church equipping (ce) - ce provides equipping and coaching to partnering churches and those seeking to grow in their mission ministry. In 2023, they provided assistance to 31 churches, and are asking god for an additional 20 churches to equip. A new director for church relations was hired in 2023. The listening group process that was begun is on hold allowing the new director time to connect with church leaders and evaluate the effectiveness and needed changes in this area. See also sch. O
