The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (macc) legislative program was successful during the 2023 ms legislative session. The annual legislative workshop was held at holmes Community college in june 2022 where legislative priorities were approved for the upcoming legislative session which began in january and ended in early april. When all funding sources from all appropriation bills that listed Community Colleges are taken into account for fy 2024 and compared with the funding from fy 2023, the total appropriations that are designated to go to Community Colleges systemwide indicates an increase of $4,972,657 or 1.8%.
The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (macc) trustees Association - macc supports the macc trustees Association through coordinating and funding the annual trustees conference on june 28 - 30, 2023. At this conference 5-10-15-20, etc. Years of service are recognized and trustees are presented plaques. The conference provides education, leadership, legal, and legislative updates in addition to providing awards for service.
Athletic/student affiliated program successes include the 2nd annual Mississippi Association of Community Colleges conference (maccc) athletic conference, which was held in june of 2023, in biloxi, ms. The conference is designed to provide professional development for maccc personnel, as well to learn about trends and best practices in the field. The conference is open to all maccc personnel, including athletic directors, head and assistant coaches, sports information staff, and sports performance staff, including athletic trainers and strength coaches.
