Mississippi Professional Educators (mpe) awarded the following grants and scholarships: - classroom grants: mpe awarded 44 classroom grants totaling $40,803.- administrator school grant program: mpe awarded grants totaling $36,293 to 37 administrators for projects that boost morale and celebrate the accomplishments of their schools' teachers and staffs. - non-certified scholarships: mpe awarded a $1,000 scholarship to one non-certified mpe member to support undergraduate studies.- nbct scholarships: mpe awarded $475 scholarships to eight members pursuing national board certification.- nbct maintenance of certification scholarships: mpe awarded $570 scholarships to 10 members pursuing maintenance of their national board certification.- graduate scholarships: mpe awarded $1,000 scholarships to 20 members pursuing graduate studies. - linda anglin teacher preparation scholarships: mpe awarded $500 scholarships to 12 student members for their teacher preparation studies.- high school senior scholarships: mpe awarded $500 scholarships to 20 high school seniors who had at least one parent who is a member of mpe.jessica davis, a long-term sub teaching geometry at north pontotoc high school in the pontotoc county school district, won this year's student loan payment contest. Mpe paid $3,000 of jessica's student loans.mpe shared the latest education and legislative news via 51 "mpe news" emails. The association transitioned to a digital mpe journal and published three digital issues - fall 2023, winter 2023, and spring 2024. Mpe hosted 12 regional trainings, with 166 Educators attending these trainings and 141 receiving ceus. Training topics included the act, classroom management, supports for english language learners, and Mississippi's college and career-readiness standards for social studies.mpe attorneys provided legal assistance and consultation to 12 members. Mpe's executive director provided Professional guidance over the phone to 267 members.mpe continued to sponsor Mississippi's national board certified teacher (nbct) network and its 103 members. The network provided nbct door plaques to the state's 131 new nbcts.mpe honored 39 members who retired after 20 or more years of membership in the association by making a $50 donation to a beneficiary of each retiree's choice.
