Fiscal sponsorships - cherokee concerned citizens: we are a fenceline community in pascagoula, Mississippi organized to protect the health and well-being of our families and neighbours from exposure to industrial pollution. We are organizing a relocation campaign for our community. We are engaged in a variety of projects and strategies to achieve our goal. We work with scientists and other legal and health experts to collect environmental and health data, document, investigate, and report industrial toxic trespass. We are pursuing both advocacy with mdeq and epa and at the state and local levels. We are building the case and collecting the leverage we need for a legal case against industry and/or for local government action to support the buyout through other means, such as the federal flood mitigation program. Rerootd futures initiative: rooted in sankofa spirit and tradition, we work to rebuild new systems of regeneration, abundance, and justice in the south east and gulf coasts by supporting worker-owned enterprise, agriculture-based cooperative industry and collective resource stewardship to anchor a regional power-sharing democratic solidarity economy that upholds the human rights of those living there and beyond. Compost mutual aid program - establish vermicomposting units to support and strengthen urban agriculture infrastructure in the city sankofa food data project - use data visualization to create an interactive map that tracks patterns of black food production, consumption, and unmet needs. Community emergency power program - establish solar-powered center to host shareable batteries and serve as a recharge station during power outages.
