Program areas at Mississippi Votes Action Fund Corporation
Issue advocacy and grassroots communications. Mvaf will engage in issue advocacy and grassroots communications, among other awareness initiatives and outreach aimed at both the general public and public officials. These activities will occur on digital platforms, social media, and similar mechanisms, but may also include direct physical mailings, paid media production, paid media advertising and placement, and other types of media outreach, potentially including newsletters, or other activities aimed to inform the general public and public officials about public policies. Issue advocacy and grassroots communications will promote social welfare by raising awareness and helping the public understand important public policy issues so that they can make informed decisions about civic engagement. These communications are designed to educate and inform the general public, as well as public officials, on public policy issues related to elections and voting rights.
Nonpartisan candidate training. Mvaf will help educate and train individuals who are new to running for political office on how to run for political office and succeed. Candidates will be eligible to participate in these training regardless of their party affiliation. In other words, this activity will be nonpartisan. This activity will promote social welfare by helping to keep the electoral system vibrant and thriving by giving new and diverse voices improved access and educational training.
Grassroots organizing. Mvaf will engage in grassroots organizing of individuals concerned with public policy issues related to elections and voting rights. This activity will involve creating a community-based, ground-up network for civilians to advocate for public policy changes. This grassroots organizing will promote social welfare by creating a dynamic platform for concerned community members to advocate for public policy changes that improve voting rights and other civil rights concerns related to elections.
