Program areas at Missouri Baptist Healthcare Foundation
Capital: the Foundation provided an expansion to the wound center, ortho/spine instrument tray for the operating room, labor and delivery wireless monitoring system for the neonatal intensive care unit (nicu), bottle warmer for the nicu, mri/ultrasound fusion-guided prostate biopsy procedures, expansion of breast Healthcare center for genetic counseling, and equipment for disaster decontamination.
Community grants: the Foundation provided support to community organizations with medical mission's including grief and cancer support programs, assistance for women undergoing breast care treatments and medications for community members with financial need. The Foundation also provided educational scholarships for community health educators and participants of the grief program as they pursue post-secondary education.
Patient support: the Foundation provided financial assistance to patients, breast screening and education programs through the mammography van, therapy for inpatients and oncology patients via art, massage, and music therapy, and transportation and medical equipment for patients upon discharge. Additionally, lymphedema garments were given to patients in outpatient rehabilitation and underwriting was provided for a community-based stroke survivorship program.
Research, education, scholarships, and operations: funds were provided for selected mbmc leaders to attend a performance improvement certificate program through Washington university. Nursing awards were underwritten. Pastoral care department operations were underwritten. Funds provided for cancer research patient accruals in rural cancer clinics. Nursing scholarships were given in support of multiple levels of degree-level learning, continuing education funds for physical and occupational therapists and pharmacists.
