Program areas at Missouri Gateway Green Building Council
Throughout 2023, we continued to assist in creating Green and healthy spaces to live, work, and learn by providing robust outreach and education opportunities, including: year-long opportunities for people who care about Green Building to connect and learn. In 2023, we 30 unique events providing Green Building education and networking. This included our first in-person leed tour since 2019 and an panel overview of the inflation reduction act. Our work with k-12 schools, made a big leap in 2023 by aligning all our greens schools programming under the show-me Green schools umbrella, which we co-deliver with our partners, the Missouri environmental education association. We paired 67 schools and mentors for the 2022-23 Green schools quest and supported over 34 schools in their Missouri Green schools participation leading to greener and healthier schools across our geographic territory. We continue to work with the city of st. louis's office of Building performance in the implementation of energy benchmarking and the Building energy performance standard. Much of this work is through the Building energy exchange st. louis (an initiative of mggbc), which held monthly owner & operator sessions in 2023. In 2023, our advocacy committee spent considerable time and effort raising awareness about harmful legislation in Missouri that would undermine strong energy codes. The legislation did not move forward. At the beginning of 2023, we launched a new name, brand, website and crm system in order to better reflect the broad work that we do as an organization. The new name streamlines the organization's name. The new logo continues to incorporate a river theme with three colors, three lines and three sections of the logo - representing the triple bottom line of sustainability (economic, environmental and social).
