Program areas at MVC
The Conference receives ncaa special assistance and student athlete opportunity grants each year. The Conference is responsible for distributing The funds to member institutions for use by eligible student-athletes for various health, educational, and personal purposes.
The Conference conducts a post-season basketball tournament for all of The member institutions' men's & women's basketball teams. The winner of The tournament receives an automatic invitation to The ncaa basketball tournament.
In addition to The national basketball tournament, The Conference promotes The overall athletic programs for each of The conferences' member institutions and strives to increase The general recognition of The conference.both The men's and women's basketball tournaments were expanded from 10 teams to 12 teams to accommodate The expansion of The Missouri Valley Conference from 10 members to 12 members. This expansion necessitated The addition of an additional session (two games) to The tournament format. Prior to 2023, there was only one thursday night session; The expansion created a new thursday afternoon session.
The Conference contracts with regional and national television networks to provide tv exposure for The member's basketball programs.
