Among the accomplishments MFSA lists for this period are: Obtaining a $500,000 development grant from the Stanton Foundation, which enabled the hiring the organizations first Executive Director Maintaining a regular mailing list and sending regular newsletters and other communications to members Instituting a quarterly all-hands meeting schedule in which members could take part, with invited guest speakers including MIT faculty and other figures Providing financial support for other efforts at promoting free expression, including a conference on academic freedom at Stanford University (in which multiple MFSA members and directors participated), as well as a course on free expression in MITs philosophy department, which enabled the professors to bring in guest speakers. Provided extensive review and comment to a working group on free expression at MIT regarding proposed policy changes and improvements aimed at strengthening free expression at the Institute.
