As the advocacy and political arm of MN350, MN350 Action engages minnesotans from all walks of life to help reclaim our democracy by advocating on behalf of our planet and urging elected leaders to make Minnesota a leader in protecting our climate.through a strong sustaining member base we can show our elected officials that Minnesota wants common sense, science-based climate policy. Members build a shared vision of a clean energy future through Action team meetings, canvassing, community education, and legislative events. Our members and volunteers work together in service of a just, healthy, and sustainable future for all.through grassroots organizing in 2023, MN350 Action: - organized and trained hundreds of minnesotans contact decision makers and testify in public hearings advocating for clean energy policy and against harmful fossil fuel projects. - convened regular meetings to discuss tactics for supporting just transition and clean energy policies. - participated in coalitions around climate and energy, government relations, and federal funds allocated in the ira and iiaj. - lobbied legislative members through in-district meetings. - co-lead/sponsored two lobby days with our partners to support climate and indigenous rights legislation at the Minnesota capitol. - prepared a robust legislative agenda for the 2024 Minnesota legislative session. - won historic 100% clean energy bill, ensuring that Minnesota's energy sector will operate on 100% clean energy by 2040 the most significant climate legislation ever passed in our state, and among the most robust in the country. - won the frontline community protection act / cumulative impacts bill, which will help reduce additional pollution in overburdened communities through stronger permitting requirements. - won zero waste research bill that allocates funding to study how the state can move towards reducing waste by 90% and divert waste from incinerators and landfills. - won $13m in funding to support school districts in buying and maintaining electric school buses and charging infrastructure. - won free fare pilot program, which will pilot free public transit service on two bus lines. - won 0.75-cent metro-wide sales tax that will fund improvements to our public transit system. - won an increase to water permit violation penalties that will help hold big farming operations accountable, particularly repeat offenders. - won unanimous passage of minneapolis climate legacy initiative, which commits $10m to fund climate initiatives and create good green jobs in minneapolis.
