India country program: 916 direct beneficiaries & 1,099 indirect beneficiaries (parents and siblings of direct beneficiaries). 1) the following specialized equipment and services were provided to vulnerable, isolated children with disabilities in remote areas: assisted-mobility devices, medical services, educational support, nutritional support, psychosocial support, community-based rehab- ilitation, early intervention programs for pre-school children with disabilities. 2) disability prevention and reduction of incidence of child mortality through provision of emergency medical services in remote areas with an emphasis on childbirth and delivery complications including: training of village health care workers and development of emergency transport systems for rapid interventions in conjunction with regional hospitals and referral networks. 3) specially targeted malnutrition interventions for orphaned and vulnerable children in isolated high-risk project coverage areas. 4) vocational training and job placement for youth with disabilities: silk spinning and weaving; architectural metal fabrication.
