Program areas at Modern States Education Alliance
Modern States initial program, Freshman Year for Free, is intended to let students complete one year of college without expense, saving 25 percent of the total cost of tuition. The courses will prepare students for the major "Advanced Placement"* or "College Level Examination Program" (CLEP)* tests offered by the College Board. History, math, English, and economics are among the subjects being offered. Modern States is partnering with edx, the leading online learning platform founded by Harvard and MIT. A DONATION HAS BEEN MADE TO EDX TO DEVELOP high quality freshman courses with top universities and professors. Each course includes online lectures, quizzes, tests, and other features; all online textbooks and materials are being provided to students free of charge.*Advanced Placement, AP and CLEP are registered trademarks of the College Board, which was not involved in the production of, and does not endorse, these offerings.
