Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy

Land acquisition and conservation - the organization acquires property and conservation easements, either through sale or donation, for the purpose of conserving significant open spaces. This includes the protection of scenic views and vistas and providing recreational opportunities through the creation or expansion of trail systems and preserves. The organization also conserves important natural habitats and corridors for the movement of species and preservation of natural systems. Educational opportunities and public participation in the stewardship of the natural environment are also services provided by the organization. These are offered through volunteer workdays and educational events. Educational events are free and opened to the public.

Outreach and engagement: outreach is the activity by which the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy (mhlc) connects its Land conservation efforts with the residents of and visitors to the capital region and specifically our tri-county service area. The outreach efforts consist of the promotion of the Conservancy to increase public awareness, as well as enhance the perception of mhlc as the capital region's Land trust through public events and educational sessions, communications such as print, electronic media, and news print, and information dissemination through word-of-mouth, person-to-person meetings, and more.
