Mokoma Conservancy preserves and conserves key watershed areas in the Lake Mokoma and Laporte areas. They conduct research to add to their acreage and conserve forestry, while also creating bird habitat for the Yellow Warbler. Environmental education is also a priority for the organization. Through member contributions and DCNR grant funds, they have protected a 243-acre tract of land and acquired an additional 131 acres. Mokoma Conservancy is currently researching habitat for the Yellow Warbler as part of their Golden-winged warbler forest management plan pursuant to USDA regulations.
