Program areas at Montana Outdoor Science School
MOSS offered 53 outdoor science education summer day camps to K-9 students in Gallatin and Park counties. 658 registrants comprised of 398 unique individuals spent 19,600 hours exploring science concepts in the outdoors, and 39 students received scholarships to attend camps.
MOSS hosted the Montana Master Naturalist program for 27 adults who were certified as having knowledge of the geology, flora, and fauna of our area. Each adult spent 40 hours engaged with nature for 1080 total hours spent outside with MOSS instructors. In addition, a total of 15 adults participated in 3 partial day field programs in ecology and geology for 75 total hours spent outside with MOSS instructors.
MOSS provided 8033 hours of science enrichment programs to 2106 kids through 47 programs and on field trips for 36 schools. Twenty six percent of schools with paid programs were provided with partial scholarships. Twenty seven of the 36 schools paid for programs while the others were grant or otherwise funded.
