THE AGENCY PROVIDES A COMPREHENSIVE SET OF SERVICES TO ENHANCE THE INDEPENDENCE AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF PEOPLE COPING WITH BLINDNESS OR VISION IMPAIRMENT THROUGH REHABILITATION, EDUCATION, SUPPORT, AND ADVOCACY AND TO WORK TOWARD THE PREVENTION OF BLINDNESS. PROGRAMS PROVIDED UNDER SPECIALIZED SERVICES INCLUDED SUPPORT SERVICES SUCH AS MAIL READING, TRANSPORTATION WITH ESCORT TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, SHOPPING ASSISTANCE AND LIFE SKILLS EDUCATION. SERVICE HOURS ALSO INCLUDE ACCESS TECHNOLOGY, LIFE SKILLS CLASSES, ORIENTATION & MOBILITY, & VOCATIONAL REHAB. THE TOTAL NUMBER OF clients FOR 2022 was 134. TOTAL HOURS FOR ALL OF THESE SERVICES WERE 2264. SOME CLIENTS RECEIVE MORE THAN ONE SERVICE.
PREVENTION OF BLINDNESS SERVICES INCLUDE 1088 SCREENINGS OF CHILDREN, WITH 99 REFERRALS FOR ADDITIONAL FOLLOW-UP SERVICES. POB SERVICES ALSO INCLUDE 1082 children participants in EYE CARE EDUCATION. IN ADDITION THE AGENCY ALSO PROVIDES POB SERVICES TO ADULTS AND CHILDREN THAT DO NOT FALL UNDER THE AGE LIMIT OF THE PAB CONTRACT.
Janitorial services provided to District 6 PennDot headquarters. This program employed 2 employees, including 1 disabled employee.
