Program areas at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital Foundation
Cancer and Palliative Care:Morristown-Hamblen Hospital Foundation distributed funds to assist with the purchase of a Sentinelle Breast Coil for use with the MRI machine in the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence at Morristown West, an 8-channel knee coil for use with the hospital's MRI machine, and a CT simulator in the Morristown Regional Cancer Center.The foundation also distributed funds to provide direct assistance to patients undergoing cancer treatment at Morristown Regional Cancer Center. This financial assistance provided for transportation, food and nutritional supplements, dental care, utilities, medications, and specialized skin creams to aid in healing for radiation patients.
Employee and Patient Emergency Assistance:Morristown-Hamblen Hospital Foundation's employee emergency assistance fund provided crisis support to 34 employees and 10 patients of Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System who were facing unexpected financial crises due to fires, car accidents, illnesses, deaths, etc. In 2023, assistance was provided for housing, transportation, funerals, utilities, and medical needs.
Pathology:Donors to Morristown-Hamblen Hospital Foundation provided funds to purchase a Mobic Slide Scanner used by pathologists to evaluate samples quickly, particularly for cancer patients. The system allows for remote, cooperative work between pathologists, hematologists and other physicians, including time sensitive evaluations for bone marrow samples. The scanner improves turnaround time and diagnostic accuracy.
Labor and Delivery:The foundation received a donation of obstetric and gynecological treatment equipment that was distributed to the Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System labor and delivery department for use. The equipment included a Hologic NovaSure endometrial ablation controller, a mobile surgical light, an articulating exam table, and numerous stainless steel surgical instruments, tools, and dilators.
