SCHOOL OPERATIONS in RISHIKESH, INDIA:1-Morning Assembly, Music, and PrayerSchool children run excitedly to school at 7:30 AM. Their day begins with a warm glass of milk with turmeric and jaggery added, followed by the morning assembly. In the morning assembly, news of the day is shared by our students in both English and Hindi, and then our school band leads with music, singing and chanting prayers such as Hanuman Chalisa, which consists of 40 verses that address to Gods symbols of strength and energy. Our kindergarten also memories all 40 verses.2-English Education K-12In Our K-12 English school, 480 underprivileged children, study in beautiful, well-designed classrooms, equipped with electricity, lights, fans, and 90 CC cameras. All over India, each state has board exams for 10th and 12th graders. Students must pass this board exam to receive a state education certificate to be able to enter college. Our school has consistently ranked above 80% to 96.6% with honors every single year. In 2020 state board exams, among the 150,000 state-wide students tested, we had two students rank the top 12th and 25th.3-Computer Education and Digital Recording StudioThe future is technology driven. Mother Miracle School emphasizes and specializes in cutting edge technology training. We are educating our bright students to be leaders in the digital age. The students are thriving in learning innovative technology. We have created 3 state-of-the art computer labs and 2 IOT (Internet of Things) Labs. We now have 140 computers and laptops with direct high-speed internet. Today, grades kindergarten and first grade are learning typing and use of various Microsoft software programs. Grades 2 through 5 are making movies and games with Scratch coding program from MIT university. Grades 6 through 12 are learning C, C++, Python, html, JavaScript, and CSS, etc. computer programming languages. They are learning to develop mobile apps using Django and React framework, are attending IOT and coding labs daily and creating interesting projects. Our focus is to see our school as a world-famous school in terms of computers. The best way to break the cycle of poverty is with employment in a software consultancy service company or by creating an IT startup company. Each of our students pledges to give back to their community by sponsoring a student at Mother Miracle School once they have become gainfully employed. Internet of Things (IOT) describes the network of physical objects - things- that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies. Our students are working in our well-equipped SURYA IOT lab, have already worked on and completed many projects such as Blinking LED, alarm systems, humidity and temperature monitoring devices, shoes for blind people and building Drones, etc. We are in the process of building a software company for our students to assure their continued success. In 2026 at our new Mother Miracle Software company, we will provide the opportunity for Mother Miracle School students to attend specially designed Bootcamps to learn advanced technology, soft skills such as teamwork and office protocols, as well as receive career advice, internships, and assistance in job hunting. Once they have the necessary skillset, we will help them find paid remote positions in high-tech firms around the world. This allows our graduates to support themselves, save up to pursue their passion, help their families, and sponsor a new child in our school, thus breaking the cycle of poverty. Since its inception, the Founders vision has been to break the cycle of poverty through education. At our digital recording studio the children have the chance to create their own music via Abelton software. 4- Three Science Labs and Leadership ClassWe have 3 well equipped science labs for biology, chemistry, and physics for grades 6 to 12. Our school follows the principle of learning by doing. To understand the basic concepts of science practical activities and experiments are conducted by our students under the supervision and guidance of expert teachers. Our primary school children also visit these labs to become familiar with models, science projects and equipment. We also have a well-equipped leadership lab with teachers to train our students to be the leaders in the digital age.5-NutritionSince 2008, 100% of our children have shown extreme improvement in height and weight as compared to the average child in their community. Most of our students come to school hungry. For breakfast we provide a full glass of milk with turmeric and jaggery added. Our 10 dedicated kitchen staff prepare a warm and nutritious all you can eat lunch 6 days a week. We also provide lunch for our 57 teachers and staff. We partnered with Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva (PhD Nutrition), founder and CEO of Meta Balance Healthcare, from FMS Delhi, a volunteer and well-known nutritionist from New Delhi, to ensure a well-balanced school menu. Our nutritional program follows his advice for our students to sustain a sharp memory, good health, good bone structure, good thoughts, and a sustained perfect state of health and wellbeing. Exercise, food, sleep, exercise, yoga, and mindfulness are essential elements which play a very important role in the physical and mental growth of a child.6- HealthcareLiving in the slums of Rishikesh, our children are constantly threatened by illness and disease from contaminated water, poor sanitation, and non-hygienic food preparation. We provide free healthcare for our students which includes twice a year deworming, doctors visits, necessary medications, and hospital care. We also provide free dental care for our students.7-Extracurricular ActivityAside from academics, our school also puts an emphasis on extracurricular activities like sports, dance, art, music, and karate. Additionally, we encourage a holistic approach to life by providing yoga, daily morning chanting, as well as daily 10 minutes before lunch, meditation, chanting, energy healing by sending healing energy to themselves and all beings. The school art room is filled with an abundance of art supplies. Students artwork is displayed on the school walls. They have won many art competitions and have received many trophies.Dance and music are especially important at our school. Our students participate in interschool and state competitions and consistently win first prize in dance and music events. Daily, the sound of music comes from our music room as our students learn to play instruments and sing with their teachers. They have even produced a CD of their music! Our sports program involves many sports activities with a special focus on volleyball, badminton, and table tennis. We have boys and girls volleyball and table tennis teams which represent our school in inter-school competitions, not only at the city level but also at the state level. In state level competitions, our students become the champions of our state in both sports. Our school also provides a well-equipped indoor sports arena where indoor games, such as chess, carrom, and scrabble are played under the guidance of a sports coach.Karate, the art of self-defense, is an integral part of our school curriculum. This year Dania Salmani of Grade 3 won a gold medal in the Uttarakhand State Kick Boxing Championship and was selected for the national level of WAKO INDIA National kick boxing championship 2023. In the first Uttarakhand State Grappling Championship our two sports stars got positions. Tapasya, Grade 6, secured the 1st position and Dania Salmani, Grade 3, secured 2nd position and both were selected for national level.Nancy Rastogi, a student studied in our school since lower kindergarten to Grade 12th (under our sponsorship program) collected many prizes and medals in several volleyball tournaments from 2017 to 2023. In the present year 2023, she won the All-India Open Women tournament of volleyball. Our toy room for kindergarteners is a fun place to be! All the toys we have are donated by children in the USA. Our school children have never had a toy in their life, so they love this room. 8- EmpowermentSelf-esteem is the core philosophy at Mother Miracle school. From day one our students are trained to believe in themselves, set goals, receive motivational training, and are taught to believe they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Our oldest example is the recitation of positive affirmations that Shahla Ettefagh, our Founder, put in place for each of our students to express each day at school. For example, every day you can hear our students yell out with excitement that they can do and achieve anything!Empowerment coaching seminars by Mr. Anil Gupta, Ajay Gupta, and a large group of volunteers are a key part of our curriculum to empower our students from Grades 6 to 12. Every student Grade 6 to 12 has a vision board which shows their dreams, aspirations, and goals. It is laminated and hung in their classroom where they look at it every day an
College Education ProgramThe objective of our College Scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students who otherwise lack the means to pursue higher education in their selected fields of study. A college degree is required in India to secure a well-paying job. In 2023 we have funded, placed, and provide ongoing weekly success coaching to eighteen Mother Miracle graduates in private colleges. The cost of private Indian colleges nearby our community ranges from $2500 and $6800 annually for tuition, room and board, uniforms, and books. This year $62,763 has been secured through the Board of Directors fundraising efforts, and donations by our generous sponsors.
