Milk processing:in the past year, mother's Milk Bank of Mississippi hosted more Milk drives with the help of the Bank's donor coordinator taking on the role of outreach coordinator. The Bank also had virtual outreach opportunities for the executive director and medical director. The executive director presented at the breastfeeding coalition meeting and the baby caf meeting for the greenwood area and did a radio interview with super talk Mississippi to help promote the Milk Bank and the Milk run. The medical director had a radio interview with randy bell for miss103 and presented at the 2022 making an impact in the lactation community virtual conference. Aside from Milk drives, the executive director rebranded the annual Milk run to pacing for preemies which yielded successful results and helped make the event more popular in the community. The ed also began taking over the Bank's social media outlets; by scheduling and creating post, the Bank's socials have also received an increase in popularity. At the end of 2022, mother's Milk Bank was able to host a total of 10 Milk drives; two of which were at the home office location. The Bank was able to partner with a new clinic, semrhi -women's health center as they hosted a Milk drive which resulted in conversation about their interest in becoming a depot location in the future.by having the lab staff and donor coordinator be couriers for the Milk from depots to Milk Bank, there was a huge decrease in Milk loss; freezers stayed mostly full throughout the year, which means more babies were able to receive human donor Milk. With this increase, the Bank was able to help sister Milk banks fill a few orders for their hospitals from time to time. During this time, the Bank also reestablished a relationship with a previous hospital client and began filling orders again.
Community outreach and education:this year, the nation saw a formula shortage that left moms desperate, scared and scrambling to figure out where their baby's next meal would come from. The Mothers' Milk Bank of ms jumped in and helped the mothers of healthy babies at home. Therefore, the Bank launched a donate what you can program. During this time, families were able to call to check availability of outpatient Milk and if available, they would donate what they could afford and in return they received a one-time dispensation of 34 ounces of outpatient donor human Milk without a prescription needed.with the radio spots the Bank filled and the large 5k, the Bank had a few donor moms who heard the radio broadcasts and called with interest in becoming donors.
